Gratulant 1.9.1: Your Pets Celebrate Too — Birthdays, Gotcha Days and a Pet Nameday
Gratulant 1.9.1 adds pets: dogs, cats, rabbits, fish and more. It tracks their birthday and the day they came home, offers a breed database, name ideas and a playful pet nameday — and makes reminders more reliable.
Download on the App Store

The dog who greets you at the door every evening, the cat who sits on your keyboard, the rabbit in the kids' room — they're family, so why shouldn't they get a celebration? Version 1.9.1 brings pets to Gratulant. You add them as easily as people, and the app keeps track of their birthday, the day they came home and, if you like, a playful nameday. Here's what's new.
Pets in Gratulant: birthdays and the day they came home
You can now add a dog, cat, bird, fish, rabbit, small pet, horse, reptile, spider or anything else. For every pet, Gratulant watches two dates. Their birthday, if you know it — the year is optional, so a day and month are enough. And their adoption day, the day they came home, often called a “gotcha day”. For an animal from a shelter or a breeder, it's often the only date you really know. You can switch each celebration on or off separately.
Breed, photo and name ideas
Filling in a pet's profile takes a moment. Pick the breed from a huge breed database, add a photo straight from your library and set their sex. Still choosing a name for a new arrival? The name ideas list helps: every suggestion comes with a short note on where the name comes from or why it fits.
A pet nameday — a playful Gratulant tradition
Namedays are a big deal in Czechia, Slovakia and Poland, so we gave them to animals too. Based on your pet's name, Gratulant assigns them a playful nameday. Take it with a smile: it's a fun Gratulant tradition, not an official nameday. So a dog called Ben gets one more day a year, besides his birthday and gotcha day, when he deserves an extra treat.
They celebrate alongside your people — same reminders, same widgets
Pets don't get a separate corner of the app. Their celebrations show up in the same reminders and widgets as the birthdays and namedays of the people you love, so “This week” can list your mum and your dog side by side. And like everything else, pets sync via iCloud.
More reliable reminders: no more February 30
The second change is less visible but just as important. Before, it was possible to save a date that doesn't exist, like February 30 or April 31. No reminder could ever fire on such a day, so the birthday would silently go missing. Version 1.9.1 no longer lets impossible dates slip in, so no celebration can disappear without warning. On top of that come plenty of performance and stability improvements.
Update to Gratulant 1.9.1
Gratulant 1.9.1 has been on the App Store since September. If you have automatic updates on, you probably have it already; otherwise, update it from the App Store. Then add your first pet, and their birthday, gotcha day and nameday won't slip past you again. Gratulant is a free download for iPhone with iOS 18 or later.
